WVU men’s soccer joining C-USA

WVU men’s soccer program is leaving the Mid-American Conference for Conference USA in the fall 2022 season. That will give the conference ten teams, including the reigning national champion Marshall University.

City of Ripley assessing flood damage

The City of Ripley is assessing the damage from last week’s flash flood. Clogged drains caused the system to overflow. Officials say keeping debris out of the gutters will prevent flooding in the future, and the county does not plan to spend extra money on flooding infrastructure.

Judge blocks law on union dues

A Kanawha County judge is granting a temporary injunction to put a new law on hold that would block unions from collecting dues from state workers’ paychecks. The law was set to go into effect on Thursday. Union officials contend that the law is discriminatory.

Hundreds rally for “Moral March on Manchin”

Hundreds of people took part in a rally at Magic Island Park, opposing Senator Joe Manchin’s stance on the filibuster and sweeping election legislation. Around two-hundred people marched to Manchin’s office in Charleston, calling on the senator to change his views on the “For the People Act.”

Trailer full of goats abandoned

Charleston police are investigating after finding an abandoned trailer full of goats in the parking lot of Charleston Arbors. Firefighters sprayed down the goats and gave them buckets of water. Police are trying to find out who was responsible for dropping off the animals.
