Man arrested for driving over 100 mph on U.S. 119

Boone County deputies arrested a man for driving over one-hundred-miles-per-hour on U.S. 119 in the Danville area. Forty-year-old David Boggs is charged with reckless driving and driving on a suspended driver’s license for the third time.

Clean up begins after flash flooding

Clean up begins this morning in Lincoln County. High water destroyed two buildings in Hamlin. Several bridges were washed out, trapping several people. At least twenty-five homes were damaged in West Hamlin. Flooding was also reported in downtown Ripley.

MSHA will increase mine visits

The federal Mine Safety and Health Administration is renewing its focus on powered haulage and rollover polices after two mining deaths last week in West Virginia. MSHA inspectors will focus on education and best practices. There have been fifteen mining deaths in the U.S. this year.
