A South Charleston man is under arrest in connection to a deadly shooting on Woodward Drive Friday night. Forty-year-old Fahim Abdul-Majeed was arrested during a traffic stop. He’s charged with first degree murder.

A tree nearly crushed a car on Route-62 in Poca. The tree fell on a woman’s car and landed on power lines, knocking out power in the area. No one was hurt, but the car is likely totaled.

Kanawha County Emergency Management officials expect the Coal River to crest less than a foot above flood stage by mid-morning. Roadways are flooding, including Ferrell Road and Smith Creek near Tornado. River levels should fall off quickly during the day.

The National Weather Service is predicting that several rivers will be above flood stage today and tomorrow. Most counties are under a flood warning with another one-to-three inches of rain possible by mid-morning. Governor Justice placed fifty of the state’s counties under a State of Preparedness.

The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources plans to open its new wildlife education center this summer. Services at a county health department have been suspended after an investigation by state health officials. The Bureau for Public Health found that the Boone County Health Department did not have written policies for infection prevention, hand hygiene, or environmental cleaning, and also found that the facility needed a deep cleaning.
