Marshall grad calls plays for Superbowl LV

Marshall grad and Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich will call the plays for Tom Brady in Super Bowl fifty-five this Sunday. Leftwich was a legendary quarterback for the Thundering Herd and went on to play in the NFL before becoming a coach.

Street named in honor of fallen officer

Charleston City Council approved a resolution to name a street in honor of fallen police officer Cassie Johnson. Johnson was killed in the line of duty in December on Garrison Avenue, which will honorarily be named Patrolman Cassie Johnson Avenue.

Boone County Sheriff’s Office Gets a Donated X-Ray Machine

The Boone County sheriff’s office got a new X-Ray machine donated by the US Postal Inspection Service. Sheriff Chad Barker said they will use it to scan suspicious packages. Science Camp goes virtual, again

For the second year in a row, the National Youth Science Camp will be a virtual event. The camp for graduating high schoolers interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, will take place between June 28th and July 21st. The application deadline is February 28th.

Appalachian Power want to expand broadband

Appalachian Power is asking the Public Service Commission for permission to expand broadband service in Mingo and Logan counties. The plan calls for installing over four-hundred miles of fiber optic cable on existing power poles. The project is expected to cost around sixty-million-dollars.
