First Responders Help Deliver a Baby

Kanawha County first responders helped deliver a baby on Friday. EMT Kaitlyn Smith arrived on the scene and there was no time to wait. She delivered the baby with help from St. Albans Lt. Mike Farry and a team of others. Both mom and the baby girl are doing fine.

Medical Cannabis Registrations Begin Wednesday

More than 30 permits issued for medical cannabis dispensaries

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources’ Office of Medical Cannabis is issuing dispensary permits for medical cannabis to more than thirty businesses across the state. Eligible West Virginians can begin registering online Wednesday, February 3rd, to received medical cannabis.

Two people found dead inside a van

The bodies of a man, woman, and dog were found inside a van in a parking lot at Eastern Heights on route-60 in Huntington. Investigators say it appears they were trying to stay warm and were overcome by carbon monoxide. The van’s ignition was on, but it was out of gas.

Man arrested in Huntington carjacking

Huntington police arrested a robbery suspect with an extensive criminal history. David Michael Weaver is accused of robbing two men at gunpoint and stealing their car at Sheetz on 18th Street West earlier this week. Weaver’s criminal history spans numerous states. He was previously charged with grand theft auto, carjacking, and armed robbery.

COVID-19 deaths over 2,000, active cases decline

There are over nine-hundred new cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia, but the number of active cases is going down, with less than 23-thousand. Twenty-three more people have died, pushing the state’s death toll to over two-thousand. Over five-hundred patients are hospitalized with the virus. That’s the lowest number since November.
