Marshall students displaced after house fire

Six Marshall University students are displaced after a fire destroyed their house on Hal Greer Boulevard. No one was home when the fire broke. The students were off campus for winter break. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Cop killer transferred from hospital to jail

The man accused of killing a Charleston police officer earlier this month is out of the hospital. Thirty-eight-year-old Joshua Phillips is charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of patrolman Cassie Johnson. Phillips was shot and wounded in the altercation. He’s being held at the South Central Regional Jail.

Arson fire kills Air National Guard firefighter

The fire that killed a West Virginia Air National Guard firefighter has been ruled arson. The state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating two structure fires that were intentionally set, about three miles apart near Martinsburg. There is a five-thousand-dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the fire.

WVU fills hole in schedule with Northeastern game

WVU men’s basketball is filling a hole in their schedule for a third time. The Mountaineers will play Northeastern on December 29th. West Virginia was originally scheduled to host Buffalo on Tuesday, but the Bulls were unable to play due to COVID protocols.

Veteran’s Administration making changes at Clarksburg VA hospital

The Veteran’s Administration is making changes at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg after an internal investigation following the murders of sever patients at the facility. Hino Motors pauses production until Oct. 2021

Hino Motors is pausing production of its trucks until next fall, impacting the company’s large manufacturing plant in Mineral Wells. The Wood County plant employs about five-hundred people. West Virginia has the second highest rate of COVID-19 spread in the country. The state’s Rt rate, which is the measurement of how much the virus can spread from a single person, is at one-point-one-nine. Second to only Maine, which is at one-point-two-four.
