COVID-19 vaccine will arrive in WV in 2 weeks

Governor Justice says he expects the first batch of COVID-19 vaccine to arrive in West Virginia in about two weeks. He says he’s so confident in the vaccine that he’s considering getting a shot during one of his press conferences. Nursing home residents and healthcare providers will be the first to get the vaccine.

COVID-19 death toll climbs to over 700

West Virginia’s COVID-19 death toll climbed to over seven-hundred on Thanksgiving Day with seventeen more deaths. Hospitalizations hit a record high, with over five-hundred people in the hospital, and almost 150 in ICU. DHHR is reporting over one-thousand new cases of the virus in the past 24-hours.

WVU football game postponed

Saturday’s WVU football game against Oklahoma State is postponed because the Cowboys couldn’t meet the required COVID-19 thresholds. The game is rescheduled for December 12th.

Bank robbery suspect under arrest

A bank robbery suspect is under arrest in Harrison County. Forty-three-year-old Clinton Utter is accused of robbing the Summit Community Bank in Salem last week. He was arrested during a traffic stop. The FBI and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.

Suspect under arrest in Point Pleasant break-ins

A Point Pleasant man is under arrest after a string of break-ins over the last two weeks. Twenty-four-year-old Austin Coughenour is accused of breaking into several business and cars. Investigators are looking for additional suspects.

Morrisey warning about online shopping scams

Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is warning West Virginians about the dangers of shopping online this holiday season. He says increased consumer activity is an opportunity for fraudsters to steal your money or identity.

WVU Basketball Replaces One Game With Another

The West Virginia bsketball team will replace Tennessee in the Jimmy V Classic on Dec. 2 against top-ranked Gonzaga. It will be the opening game of the men’s basketball doubleheader in Indianapolis. Gov. Jim Justice said West Virginia may see its first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine by mid-December. Emergency workers and health care providers will be among the first to get the vaccines, along with the elderly in nursing homes. Nearly half of the state’s fatalities during the pandemic have come from nursing homes.
