“Operation Drumstick” testing events underway

The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department is kicking off “Operation Drumstick.” The health department is holding a series of COVID-19 testing events ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, and is encouraging people to keep celebrations small this year. There is a testing event today at the Quincy Center in Belle.

More than 10,000 active COIVD-19 cases in WV

COVID-19 numbers are surging in the state with over eight-hundred new cases of the virus, and three more people have died. DHHR is reporting over ten-thousand active cases statewide, and almost four-hundred people are in the hospital.

Governor Justice is on the offensive over beefing up his mask mandate. He says two former gubernatorial candidates spend the weekend telling people he was trying to take away their constitutional rights. Justice says the rhetoric isn’t true.

A homeowner detained a burglar at gunpoint until deputies arrived at a home in Elkview. The homeowner saw a man on his security camera trying to break-in. He left work to return home and held the man at gunpoint until police arrived.

Jefferson bar’s liquor license suspended following weekend shooting

The West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration is suspending the liquor license of Big Shots Bar in Jefferson following a weekend shooting. A large group got into a fight outside the bar when three people were shot and wounded. They’re expected to be okay. The suspension is for ten-days, and could be extended.

WVEA calling for online learning until after Christmas break

The West Virginia Education Association is calling on Governor Justice to shift schools to remote learning until after Christmas break. Justice has already moved classes online for three days after thanksgiving to curb any possible COVID-19 outbreaks, but the WVEA says his actions don’t go far enough.

Homeowner Sees Attempted Burglary on Video Surveillance

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that a breaking and entering suspect has been arrested after a homeowner held him at gunpoint until deputies arrived.
