Free skiing and snowboarding this weekend

You can ski and snowboard for free this weekend at two state resorts. You’ll have to show proof that you are a West Virginia resident and you can ski for free this Sunday and Canaan Valley and Winterplace.

Fire destroys mobile home

Several fire crews responded to an abandoned mobile home fire in Clay County. No one was inside. The mobile was destroyed in the fire and spread to some brush. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Pipeline protestor facing trespassing charges

A group of protestors at the TC Energy building is facing trespassing charges. A joint robotics team made up of three area high schools is preparing for a robotics competition in Pennsylvania later this month. New Mountaineer Mascot to be Crowned in April

The next Mountaineer mascot is a Lewisburg native is named after a university building. Colson Glover was named after Colson Hall on the downtown campus, and he was chosen Saturday as the 67th Mountaineer. WVU plays Oklahoma in quarterfinals

WVU ended the regular season with 76-to-64 win over number-four Baylor Saturday night. The Mountaineers go into the conference tournament at number-six and will play number-three Oklahoma in the quarterfinals Wednesday night in Kansas City.

WV lab can test for coronavirus

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources says the state’s lab can now test for coronavirus. There are no confirmed cases of the virus in West Virginia. Five people in the state have been tested. Two patients were negative, and results are pending for three more people.

Medical marijuana bill pulled from agenda

A medical marijuana bill was pulled from the House agenda on the final day of the session. The update to the state’s Medical Cannabis Act would have included edibles. The law was originally passed in 2017, but has gotten off to a slow start.
