There are seventy new cases of COVID-19 in Kanawha, bringing the total number of active cases close to eight-hundred. Ten more people have died from the virus statewide, raising the death toll to 290.
Kanawha County is now in the “red” on the state’s county alert system map. Social gatherings are limited to ten people or less, and schools cannot have any in-person activities. County health officials expect the number of cases will continue to rise as we see the fallout from Labor Day weekend.
Murray Energy Corporation is exiting bankruptcy, and has finished transferring all of its assets to American Consolidated Natural Resources. The new company agreed to rehire former Murray Energy employees in a deal with the miners union earlier this year.
