WV Supreme Court will hear case challenging Justices’ residency

The West Virginia Supreme Court will hear arguments next month in a lawsuit over whether Governor Justice must live in Charleston. The High Court will hear an appeal of a Kanawha circuit judge’s ruling that denied the governor’s motion to dismiss the two-year-old case filed by Delegate Isaac Sponaugle.

Protestors rally against remote learning

A group of students and parents gathered outside the Capitol to protest online learning restrictions. The state’s color-coded alert map shows nine counties in the orange or red, requiring those counties to start the school year with remote learning only.

A few glitches on the first day of school

Kanawha County School Superintendent Tom Williams says the first day of 100-percent online classes wasn’t perfect, but there were many positives. More than 46-thousand students and parents logged in to the county’s online platform. There were some connectivity issues, and some confusion about schedules and passwords.

CAMC implements no-visitor policy

Charleston Area Medical Center says that COVID-19 numbers are spiking, and they are expected to climb coming off a holiday weekend, in addition to schools and sports starting up. CAMC implemented a no-visitor policy over the weekend and are opening an additional drive through testing location at Women and Children’s Hospital.

WV’s “Rt” number highest in the country

West Virginia’s “Rt” number is the highest in the country at one-point-two-eight. The number is a measurement of how COVID-19 is spreading from person to person. The state’s active cases are up to nearly 28-hundred.
