A Cabell County jury found Armel Stutler not guilty of murder in the death of his mother’s boyfriend. His lawyer argued that Stutler shot Phillip Boggs in self-defense during a fight.

Jury deliberations will continue today in the Cynthia Gatewood murder trial. The jury heard closing arguments yesterday. Gatewood is accused of stabbing a woman in Sissonville in September 2018.

A Marrowbone Creek mother and her five kids are recovering after they were found unresponsive in their mobile home from carbon monoxide poisoning. A neighbor kicked in the door when he realized a gas generator was running inside the home.

Mayor Goodwin is closing parts of Kanawha Avenue for socially distant exercise on Sunday, September 13th, and again on Sunday, October 11th. Goodwin says the city received positive feedback about the first road closure in Kanawha City and will continue through the fall.

It’s “National Poll Worker Recruitment Day,” and county clerks across the state are on a mission to hire nine-thousand poll workers. You have to 18-years-old and registered to vote in the county where you want to work. Poll workers are sixty-dollars to train, and two-hundred-dollars to work on Election Day.

Paramedics from Kanawha and Logan counties are in Louisiana to help with Hurricane Laura relief efforts. The crews have responded to thirty calls across the state, and could be deployed until the end of September.
