Kanawha County Schools are bridging the Wi-Fi gap and upgrading school buses with stronger signals and 5-G speeds. The buses will park in rural and low income areas, so students can download the materials they need for virtual learning.

A man who was on the run for months after a fatal shooting in Charleston is under arrest in Philadelphia. Twenty-six-year-ol Braheem Griffin pleaded guilty to killing a teenager last July on Charleston’s West Side.

Highest one-day death toll from COVID-19 in Kanwha County

COVID-19 deaths hit a record number in Kanawha County. Three people died from the virus on Monday, bringing the county’s death toll to over thirty. It’s the highest number of deaths since the pandemic began. Forty more people tested positive. The next drive-up testing event is planned for Wednesday at the Schoenbaum Family Resource Center.

Kanawha County Deputy Tests Positive for COVID-19

Kanawha County Sheriff Mike Rutherford confirmed a deputy tested positive for COVID-19. The deputy has mild symptoms and appears to be doing well, according to an email from Rutherford. Anyone who had direct contact with the deputy is under self-isolation. Dr. Sherri Young with the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department is advising the sheriff’s office on protocol.
