Cabell County BOE approves reopening plan

West Virginia schools are expected to open on September eighth, and the Cabell County Board of Education approved its reopening plan. The plan includes in-person learning, virtual learning, and a blended version of instruction. Due to the pandemic, plans could change. The board will provide updates on their website.

Great Kanawha River Cleanup canceled

The 31st annual Great Kanawha river Cleanup event is canceled to COVID-19 concerns. The even typically takes place the first weekend in September. The event is expected to be rescheduled in 2021.

State revenue numbers above projections

State revenue numbers are above projections for July. That was expected since the April 15th tax deadline was pushed back to this week. More than two-hundred-million-dollars was collected in the first two weeks of July. That’s over eighty-million-dollars ahead of original projections.

Monongalia County could qualify as hot spot

100 new cases of COVID-19 in WV

West Virginia is reporting another day with one-hundred new cases of COVID-19, and the state’s overall positive test rate climbed to two-point-thirteen-percent. There are a total of over 46-hundred positive cases, and the death toll remains at 99.

House of Delegates employee tests positive for COVID-19

A House of Delegates employee has tested positive for COVID-19. Clarksburg VA investigation continues

The investigation at the Clarksburg VA Hospital is not over, according to Senator Shelley Moore Capito. Earlier this week, 46-year-old Reta Mays pleaded guilty to seven counts of second-degree murder. Man killed in Williamstown fire

The West Virginia State fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a deadly fire in Williamstown. Fifty-six-year-old Wayne Cunningham died in a fire at his home on Williams Highway. Two other people escaped with minor injuries.
