Four more COVID-19 deaths in WV

Four more people have died from COVID-19 in West Virginia, including an 86-year-old Kanawha County man. There are just under one-hundred new cases of the virus, and the state’s positive test rate is over two-percent.

COVID-19 outbreak linked to church

A COVID-19 outbreak at a Taylor County nursing home is being traced back to a local church. A care provider contracted the virus through an outbreak at the West Hill Methodist Church. Nearly thirty residents and six staff members have tested positive for the virus.

Absentee applications soar

More than 20-thousand West Virginia voters have requested absentee ballots since the application period opened last week. The state is allowing the pandemic as a reason for receiving a mail-in ballot. More than 200-thousand people voted by mail in the June primary.

WV unemployment rate falls below 10%

West Virginia’s unemployment rate fell below ten-percent in July. WorkForce West Virginia says 46-hundred people went back to work last month. More than 75-thousand people are still out of work.

Woman arrested in St. Albans care break-ins

A woman is under arrest for a string of car break-ins in St. Albans. As many as twenty-five vehicles have been broken into since Saturday night. The suspect ransacked unlocked cars and stole thousands of dollars’ worth of property.
