New development coming to Elkview

A new commercial development is coming to Elkview. The Kanawha County Commission approved the application for Elkview Commons. It will be an over forty-acre site with retail and commercial space off Frame Road, near I-79. Work is expected to start next year, and the first phase will be completed by February 2022.

Free drive-in movie night

The City of Charleston is holding another free drive-in movie night. The live acion version of “The Lion King” starts tonight at 9 p.m. in the Big Lots parking lot on Patrick Street.

More than 140 new cases of COVID-19

There are more than one-hundred-forty new cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia. Hospitalizations are down to less than one-hundred-thirty, The daily infection rate is up to over three-and-a-half percent.

Justice awards grants to fairs & festivals

Governor Justice is handing out over a million-dollars to almost four-hundred fairs and festivals around the state. The money will help make up for losses after most events were canceled over coronavirus concerns. The West Virginia State Fair will received a separate 300-thousand-dollar grant.

Absentee ballots available to WV voters

Almost nine-thousand West Virginia voters have requested absentee ballots for the November election. All registered voters are eligible to vote absentee this year due to COVID-19. The last day to request a ballot is October 28th.

Marshall breaks ground on aviation school

Marshall University’s flight school is cleared for takeoff. Officials with Marshal, Yeager Airport and public leaders broke ground for the Bill Noe Flight School. More than two-hundred students are expected to enroll when it opens in August 2021.

Man arrested for kicking uncle in the head

A Mingo County man is under arrest for kicking his uncle in the head. Nathaniel Cassidy is accused of going into his uncle’s bedroom and kicking him while he was sleeping, and then pulling out a knife and threatened to kill him. The victim is expect to be okay.
