Governor Justice is moving money around to balance the state budget. Most of the money was moved from Medicaid funding to the general budget to cover the nearly 200-million-dollar shortfall. There won’t be any cuts to Medicaid, because of additional money from the federal government.
A Sissonville High School football coach has tested positive for COVID-19. The coach worked with a small group of athletes last week, and those players have been contacted. Practices are canceled for the rest of the week as a precaution.
Starting Sunday, drivers and passengers on KRT buses will be required to wear face masks. If you don’t have one, the driver will give you a free mask. Official say it’s “prudent” to slow down the spread of COVID-19.
A two-year-old Elkview boy is dead after accidentally shooting himself. The boy got ahold of an unsecured pistol in a bedroom of his Deer Run Road home. The boy’s mother and four-year-old sibling were also in the house. An investigation is ongoing.
Residents of a Roane County neighborhood are back in their homes after gas leak. Several houses were evacuated earlier in the day when emergency crews responded to a leak in a nearly one-hundred-year-old gas line on Speed Road. Repairs have been made.
