COVID-19 outbreaks at WV nursing homes

Two West Virginia nursing homes are fighting COVID-19 outbreaks. The Princeton Health Care Center in Mercer County and the Grant County Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg are reporting over sixty cases of the virus.

Manchin and Justice spar over CARES Act money

Governor Justice and Senator Joe Manchin are sparring over the use of federal CARES Act money. Manchin accuses the governor of using the money as a political slush fund. Justice says, “it’s a lie,” and Manchin should “concentrate on the job he has in D.C.”

Beware of foreign seeds

The West Virginia Department of Agriculture is asking anyone who receives unsolicited seeds in the mail from China to send them to the USDA. Don’t open them or plant them. The seeds could be an invasive species.

Drunk driver hits pedestrian

A Huntington woman is under arrest for hitting a pedestrian on Euclid Place. Sixty-four-year-old Lori King was trying to park in front of her home when she pinned a man between her car and a tree. The victim is hospitalized with a leg injury. King is charged with DUI.

Woman wanted in connection to 2019 murder

Charleston police are looking for a woman wanted in connection to the murder of a Charleston man in June 2019. Thirty-three-year-old Samantha Slaters is wanted for the death of Adam Swim, who was found with a gunshot wound at his home on Ash Street.

Water restored in Gary, WV

The water is back on in Gary, West Virginia. The entire town of about five-hundred people has been without running water for a week. Crews replaced a broken pump, but another pump is still leaking, and the city is looking at quotes to get additional pumps.
