WV COVID-19 death toll increases to 103

A 55-year-old Mason County woman has died from COVID-19, raising the state’s death toll to 103. There are seventy new cases of the virus, bringing the total to over 55-hundred. Nearly ninety people are in the hospital.

State assistance available after FPUC benefits run out

The Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program ends tomorrow, but WorkForce West Virginia says state assistance is available. DHHR also has benefits created specifically to respond to the pandemic. Officials say that “in the absence of federal assistance, the Justice administration will do what it can to help people experiencing hard times.”

Sheetz says “coin shortage” is real

Sheetz Convenience stores, which has nearly sixty West Virginia locations, says the “coin shortage” is real. Since some businesses are still shut down there’s a circulation issue, and the U.S. Mint has slowed production because of social distancing requirements. The store suggest you pay with plastic, or donate your change to charity.
