Ten new cases of COVID-19 in WV

There are ten new cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia, bringing the total to nearly 22-hundred. The death toll remains at 84, and the positive test rate is under two-percent.

Two incumbents retain seats on state Supreme Court

Incumbents Tim Armstead and John Hutchison have won reelection to the state Supreme Court. Former legislator Bill Wooton is leading the race for a third seat on the high court, but that race is too close to call. Judicial elections are nonpartisan in West Virginia, there is no general election.

Senate President Mitch Carmichael defeated

West Virginia Senate President Mitch Carmichael lost his bid for a third term in office. Amy Grady won the Republican nomination to represent Senate District 4. Grady will face Democrat Bruce Ashworth in the general election.
