Four charged for killing wild boar

Four people in Logan County are facing charges for killing a wild board out of season. West Virginia Natural Resources Police found the boar’s head and meat at a home in Buffalo Creek, and at a campsite.

Youth sports resume Monday

Starting Monday, low-contact youth sports and Little League baseball practices can resume. Additional adult sports facilities, including indoor tennis courts and outdoor basketball courts, can also reopen. Fairs and festival can resume on July 1st. Social distancing guidelines will be in place, and face masks are encouraged.

Five more die from COVID-19

Five more people have died from COID-19 in West Virginia, bringing the state’s death toll to 84. There are six new cases of the virus, for a total of over 21-hundred. The state’s positive test rate is below two-percent.

WorkForce West Virginia working through millions in fake claims

WorkForce West Virginia is working through millions of dollars in fraudulent unemployment claims, while many people with legitimate claims, are waiting for benefits. WorkForce West Virginia says they now have to individually check each claim before sending out money. Governor Justice says one person is believed to have filed more than sixty fake claims.

Last day for early voting

Today is the last day for early voting in West Virginia’s primary election. So far, about 24-thousand people have cast their ballots at an early voting location. You have until Election Day Tuesday to return your mail-in ballot. Polls are open until 7:30 tonight.

Possible arson fire in Cabin Creek

Firefighters responded to a house fire in the Cabin Creek. The home on Sharon Hollow Road was completely engulfed when they arrived. The fire is under investigation as possible arson. The house was believed to be abandoned. No one was hurt.

“I Can’t Breathe WV” rally postponed

A large rally that was scheduled for Sunday at the state Capitol is being postponed. Organizers of the “I Can’t Breathe WV” rally are pushing back the demonstration due to safety concerns. They received a credible threat that the protest might not remain peaceful.
