A 50-year-old woman from Jefferson County died from COVID-19, bringing the state’s death toll to 38. The state’s overall number of positive cases is up to almost 11-hundred. The positive test rate remains below three-percent.
Some hospitals in West Virginia are performing elective surgeries. Thomas Health is rescheduling and performing surgeries, and CAMC is performing procedures that can be done in one day. Officials say that if you are not comfortable going to the hospital, telemedicine is available, for a doctor’s visit over the phone or internet.
Kanawha County Schools and police are looking for information after a break-in at Riverside High School Monday morning. School officials know some things were taken from vending machines and they’re looking to see if anything else is missing. A fire was reported Monday night at Elkview Middle School. The Pinch Volunteer Fire Department said on its social media that initial reports about smoke coming from the school came in Monday evening around 7:45. A new hospice care unit is opening up in Charleston. Charleston Area Medical Center announced the opening of a new 12-bed inpatient hospice unit at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Kanawha City. The new inpatient unit at CAMC will not replace the two Hubbard Hospice Houses in Kanawha County.
