Canaan Valley posts its first freeze of the season

Canaan Valley hit 28 degrees Wednesday morning, and that’s the first freeze of the season in West Virginia. It was also the coldest temperature recorded anywhere in the lower 48 states. Canaan’s unique bowl-shaped landscape traps cold air, making it much colder than surrounding areas. The valley often sees freezing temps, even in summer.
