The final Roads to Prosperity bond was sold on Wall Street this week. The program started back in 2017, and over that time, the state was able to raise more than one-and-a-half-billion- dollars on the bond sales. The state received an additional 62-million dollars in premiums.

Biden signs federal disaster declaration for WV counties

President Biden signed a federal disaster declaration for Kanawha, Cabell, Mingo and Wayne counties following flooding in February and March. Individual grants will cover things like temporary housing, home repairs, and low-interest loans. State and local governments will be reimbursed for the cost of flood response.

WVU will play in Shriner’s Classic

WVU will play later this year in the 2021 Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic. The Mountaineer basketball program will join seven other teams from November 18th to 21st at TD Arena in Charleston, South Carolina. The other teams are set to be St. Bonaventure, Marquette, Clemson, Boise State, Ole Miss, Temple and Elon.

130th Airlift Wing gets new C-130s

New C-130 cargo planes will be flying out of the 130th Airlift Wing. The Air Force approved the upgrade to the new “J” series planes, in place of the old “H-model” that are 25-years old.

Man charged with arson in Lincoln County

A Kenova man is charged with an arson spree in Lincoln County. Twenty-nine-year-old William Lusher is accused of setting three fires in the Harts area. Police chase ends in fiery crash

Two people are under arrest after a police chase that ended with a vehicle catching fire. Clendenin police tried to stop the car on Reamer Road when the driver took off. The vehicle crashed and caught fire on Leatherwood Road. No one was hurt.

Car plunges over guardrail on I-64 bridge

One person is dead after a car went over a guardrail on an I-64 bridge in South Charleston. The driver was heading west and lost control near the MacCorkle Avenue exit and the vehicle landed on the roadway below, near MacCorkle Avenue and Jefferson Road. The West Virginia State Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating.

Landmark opioid trial continues

The landmark opioid trial will continue Monday at the Byrd Federal Courthouse. Three local witnesses took the stand on Friday.
