WV Wesleyan College receives large donation

Former state Supreme Court Justice John McCuskey is donating one-and-a-half-million-dollars to his alma mater, West Virginia Wesleyan College. The donation will be part of the McCuskey Family Fellowship, and will be awarded annually to two incoming freshman and one rising sophomore.

WV’s population declines by over 3%

The U.S. Census Bureau is releasing data from the 2020 Census, and it shows that West Virginia’s population dropped over three-percent. That’s the largest decline in the country. The decline will cost the Mountain State one of its three seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Number of COVID-19 deaths reduced

West Virginia public health officials are reducing the number of COVID-19 deaths in the state by over 160. After reviewing the death certificate, officials found that those individuals did not die from COVID-19. The pandemic has claimed the lives of more than 26-hundred West Virginians.

WV incentivizing young people to get COVID-19 vaccine

Governor Justice says about 380-thousand West Virginians between sixteen and thirty-five are not getting vaccinated as quickly as health officials would like. As an incentive to get the shot, the state will give a one-hundred-dollar savings bond to everyone in that age group who gets vaccinated.
