Gunman wanted in Crescent Road shooting
Charleston police are looking for a gunman who walked into a Crescent Road apartment and shot and killed a man who was sitting on his couch. It’s the fourth deadly shooting in the last three weeks.
In-person graduation ceremonies held for the fist time since 2019
The University of Charleston and West Virginia State University held in-person graduation ceremonies for the first time since 2019. Both Universities divided up classes by college to allow for social distancing.
Johnson & Johnson vaccine returns
West Virginia health officials are once again administering the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine after an eleven-day pause because of a rare blood clotting issue. The vaccine now comes with a warning about the clotting disorder in women between the ages of 18 and 49.
Walk-in vaccinations available today at Coliseum & Convetion Center
Walk in vaccinations will be available today at The Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center COVID-19 vaccination clinic. Anyone who needs a first or second dose can get a shot without an appointment between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Concerns Continue Over Fatal Drug Overdoses
The number of fatal drug overdoses in West Virginia hit a record last year, increasing after two years of declines. According to preliminary state data at least 1,275 residents died in 2020. Jobless Rate Shows Improvement
Unemployment rates fell in all 55 of West Virginia’s counties in March. WorkForce West Virginia said Jefferson County’s seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate of 3.8% was the lowest in the state.
