Illegal bus passing is persistent problem

Kanawha County Schools says illegal bus passing is an ongoing problem. The district says there have been at least fifty illegal passing situations in the past six months, which endanger kids on and off the bus.

Justice signs needle exchange bill

Governor Justice signed a bill that will place more restrictions on community needle exchange programs. The bill establishes a licensing requirement for harm reduction program, and requires a one-to-one needle exchange. Opponents say the bill is too restrictive and could result in spreading serious disease.

New health clinic opening on West Side

West Virginia Health Right is opening a second location on Charleston’s West Side. It will be located on Central Avenue, and open to anyone, including people who are uninsured. The clinic is set to open on June 1.

Tornado shooting under investigation

Police are investigating after a man was shot in his car on Smith Creek Road in Tornado. The victim was shot in the leg and suffered non-life threatening injuries. No arrests have been made.

WV BOE approves request to close Cedar Grove Middle School

FEMA Offers Funeral Reimbursement if the Death Was Due to COVID

FEMA is now taking applications for funeral reimbursements that will go to family members who paid for the funerals of those who died of COVID-19. They will reimburse up to $9,000 for funeral expenses and other related costs. FEMA recommends starting to submit documents on www.disasterassistance.gov.
