The city of Charleston’s Public Safety Committee approved changes to the city’s needle exchange ordinance. The bill requires a one-to-one needle exchange. It will now go to the full City Council for a vote.
Two Boone County men are under arrest after police found their pickup loaded with shooting targets and other items from the Sheriff’s Office shooting range in the Hobet area. Both men are charged with petit larceny and trespassing.
A 37-year-old man is in stable condition after was shot in the arm and twice in the leg on 3rd Avenue near Beam Street. The victim told police he didn’t why someone was shooting at him. He started to run and the suspect kept firing. No arrests have been made.
The City of Charleston is set to break ground on a multi-million-dollar renovation of Slack Plaza. The three-and-a-half-million-dollar project will include new green space, a new stage and seating area, and a place for food trucks and outdoor dining. Construction is expected to start April 19th.
The north West Virginia Capitol steps were closed Tuesday as a precaution while structural engineers try to determine if 88-year-old concrete work is safe. Last week, a chunk of concrete fell through the ceiling of the legislative proofreading room and injured a state worker. The worst case scenario would require replacing the stairs.
