Suspicious house fire in Point Pleasant
Firefighters put out a vacant house fire on Neal Road in Point Pleasant. No one was hurt. Authorities say the fire appears to be suspicious. The state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

Two men are under arrest for assaulting a state trooper in Sissonville. The officer pulled over an ATV for a traffic stop when an intoxicated man came out of a house and attacked the trooper. The trooper suffered cuts and a black eye. He’s expected to be okay.
A Prichard man is under arrest for hitting a police cruiser during a chase across state lines. Police responded to a domestic incident when 70-year-old Maynard Hay took off. He hit a Louisa, Kentucky police cruiser, and then drove back into West Virginia. The chase ended back in Pritchard when Hay’s car caught fire.
The West Virginia Senate approved a bill to regulate needle exchange programs. The bill would require a license for syringe collection and distribution programs, in addition to requiring operators to off an array of health outreach services. Opponents say the bill is too stringent and will force existing exchange programs to close.
Police are investigating after a stabbing was reported in Charleston Tuesday morning. Metro 911 dispatchers said the stabbing happened in the 1600 block of Washington Street East in Charleston and one person was taken to the hospital with injuries. If you have tips, contact Charleston police.
