Conditions returning to normal after mine blowout

Conditions are returning to normal in the Cheat River and Muddy Creek after a blowout from the former T-and-T Mine Complex dumped thousands of gallons of highly acidic water into the waterways. The state Department of Environmental Protection is working with several agencies to determine what caused the blowout and possible solutions.

Governor Justice unhappy with relief plan restricitons

Governor Justice isn’t happy about restrictions on how states can use federal relief built into the nearly two-trillion-dollar COVID-19 relief plan. The package includes restrictions that states can’t use the money to directly or indirectly offset reductions in net tax revenue. Justice has proposed setting aside any “surplus” into a reserve.

WVU women drop second game to Baylor

For the second time this season the Baylor women’s basketball team ran away from WVU in the second half. The Bears beat the Mountaineers 96-to-73 to end the regular season for both teams.

Huntington police looking for peeper

Huntington police are looking for a Peeping Tom. A man was spotted peering through a window in the backyard of a home at 8th Street and 12th Avenue, and then later inappropriately solicited a woman and threatened to assault her.

Boone County Deputies Step Up Patrols

Boone County deputies completed their first “directed patrol” that targets hot spots across the county.
