Kanawha County Emergency Management officials expect the Coal River to crest less than a foot above flood stage by mid-morning. Roadways are flooding, including Ferrell Road and Smith Creek near Tornado. River levels should fall off quickly during the day.
The National Weather Service is predicting that several rivers will be above flood stage today and tomorrow. Most counties are under a flood warning with another one-to-three inches of rain possible by mid-morning. Governor Justice placed fifty of the state’s counties under a State of Preparedness.
