WVU men’s basketball team is hot in Big-12 play. The Mountaineers beat number-seven Texas Tech 82-to-71 last night. WVU is in second place in the conference and has another big game Saturday night at home against Oklahoma.

The number of active COVID-19 continues to fall. There are more than four-hundred new cases of the virus, and the number of active cases fell to below fifteen-thousand. Nineteen more people have died, raising the death toll to over 21-hundred.

Senator Joe Manchin is asking President Biden to reverse his decision to revoke the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline. Manchin says the oil will still arrive in the country by trucks and rail, which poses a risk. He says the pipeline is the safest way to transport oil and gas.

The West Virginia Supreme Court is siding with Governor Justice in a challenge to his pick to fill a Wayne County House of Delegate’s seat. That means Joshua Booth can be seated with the legislative session that begins today. Booth’s name did not originally appear on a list submitted by Wayne County GOP leaders.

Police are looking for a man who tried to grab a teenager girl at Taylor Books on Capitol Street. The girl wasn’t hurt and she was able to break free when the suspect took off. Investigators are reviewing surveillance video and are looking for a man in his 20s.

A man is dead after an officer involved shooting in Raleigh County. Sheriff’s deputies tried to serve a domestic violence protective order in Shady Spring when a man pointed a shotgun at them. A deputy fired and hit the man when he turned the gun on himself.

One of three suspects connected to the investigation in the murder of Charleston police officer Cassie Johnson appeared in court. Forty-four-year-old Herbert Sharp’s bond was reduced to five-thousand-dollars. His attorneys say he is cooperating with the investigation and is not a flight risk.

A Winter Storm will bring wintry precipitation chances today through Friday morning. All winter weather hazards are possible from snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain. The heaviest precipitation is expected Wednesday night and Thursday, with ice possible.

A hero’s funeral was held Monday for a Braxton County toddler who was killed last week. Samuel Workman was arrested and charged with the death of 3-year-old Kyran Hoover.
