The state Public Service Commission will hold a hearing today on proposed solar farm in Jefferson County. EDF Renewables wants to use almost eight-hundred-acres near Washington High School to build the Wild Hill Solar Farm that include nearly 240-thousand solar panels.

COVID-19 hospitalizations down

Health officials are reporting almost eight-hundred new cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia, and thirty more people have died. Hospitalizations are down with just under five-hundred-forty people in the hospital. That’s the lowest number since November.

Vaccinations wrapping up for school employees

The West Virginia Department of Education is hoping to have all school employees, who are 50-years-old or older, vaccinated by the end of the day. You need to sign up online at the state’s registration site. School employees are categorized as essential workers in the state’s vaccination plan.

New stores and free parking at Charleston Town Center

Two new stores are opening at Charleston Town Center. Portraits USA studio and Risky Chics boutique, a women and children’s apparel store, will open next month. Beginning in February the mall is offering free parking from 1 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday of every month.

Man who shot at Charleston police officer sentenced

A man who shot at a police officer will spend an additional seventeen-years in prison. Thirty- three-year-old Bryan Ogle II was trying to escape from Charleston Area Medical Center in 2018 when he shot at an officer, and the bullet was deflected by his body camera. It is Ogle’s thirteenth felony conviction.

Body found in Campbell’s Creek home

Kanawha County deputies are investigating after a man was found dead at a home in Campbell’s Creek. The body was found inside a detached building on the property. Police are calling it a homicide.

Boone Health Dept. Will Give Businesses 3 Strikes on Mask Enforcement
