A Charleston woman will spend a year in prison after pleading guilty to bank fraud and stealing mail. Thirty-six-year-old Samantha Miller altered stolen checks and cashed them at several banks around Kanawha County. She’s accused of stealing nearly two-thousand-dollars.
A deadly house fire in Greenbrier County last month has been ruled a murder suicide. Investigators say 25-year-old Oreanna Myers shot her five children before setting the house of fire, and then walked outside and shot herself. Myers left a note that read, “Mental health is not a joke.”
A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition after a house trailer fire in Mason County. The man is being treated at a Pittsburgh burn unit. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Kanawha County School Board is proposing a plan to consolidate Cedar Grove Middle School students into DuPont Middle School, and using the Cedar Grove building to accommodate elementary students. The move hinges on the approval of more than ten-million-dollars in funding from the school building authority.
