Construction on the disputed Keystone XL oil pipeline is on hold. President Biden revoked its permit on his first day in office. The executive order says the pipeline is not consistent with the administration’s economic and climate imperatives.

Three counties in West Virginia are not complying with the Board of Education’s mandate to return to in-person instruction. The districts could be penalized for not complying with the in-person order, but the Board decided to delay any action until its next meeting on Tuesday.

Two West Virginia teachers unions are filing an injunction to temporarily halt in-person teaching. The unions want in-person teaching stopped in Kanawha County until all education employees have had the opportunity to get the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

The West Virginia Public Service Commission is approving of Frontier Communications’ Chapter-Eleven reorganization plan. The company made a commitment to invest 200-million-dollars to deploy fiber optic facilities to at least 150-thousand locations in the state. When it gets out of Chapter-Eleven, the company will have reduced it debts by more than ten-billion-dollars.

A Huntington Tri-State Airport employee is charged with embezzlement for stealing nearly 60-thousand-dollars from the airport. Melissa Hall was an accountant at the airport. She was pulled over in a traffic stop and police found ten-thousand-dollars in her car.

Charleston City Council voted against a bill to keep panhandlers from standing in and around busy intersections. The bill would have required the city’s planning committee to declare which intersections were “inherently dangerous,” and ultimately, the council decided the bill was too broad.

Charleston City Council approved 35-thousand-dollars in federal COVID-19 grant funds to help the homeless find a safe place to stay if they have to quarantine.
