“Orange” taking over COVID-19 alert map

There are just under one-thousand new COVID-19 cases in West Virginia, and eight more people have died. There are almost 650-patients hospitalized with the virus. Orange is taking over as the predominant color on the state’s COVID-19 alert map. Twenty-nine counties are in the orange, and seventeen are in the red.

Local pharmacies credited with WV vaccine distribution

More people per capita in West Virginia have received the COVID-19 vaccine than any other state in the country. Officials credit locally-owned pharmacies for helping with vaccine distribution. More than seven-percent of the state’s population has received the first dose of the vaccine.

West Virginia businesses can apply for Paycheck Protection Program loans starting today. It’s important to apply early, because the program ran out of money quickly during the first round of funding.

WV National Guard troops defending Capitol

Almost one-hundred-eighty West Virginia National Guard troops are among the 25-thousand troops in Washington D.C. to help with security during tomorrow’s presidential inauguration. The FBI is vetting troops because of concerns about a possible insider attack.

Man arrested after running from police

A McDowell County man is under arrest after running from police. When officers caught up with 22-year-old Kobe Brown, they found drugs and a gun. He’s facing fleeing, drug and weapon charges.

WV classrooms reopen today

Many West Virginia classrooms will be open today for the first time in weeks. Governor Justice had call for all schools to resume in-person learning today, but now says it’s up to the state Board of Education and the Department of Education. Kanawha County will use a hybrid schedule.

A Man Who Was Influential in Kanawha County Has Died
