Kanawha County is Gold on the Latest WVDE Map

Six counties in West Virginia are red and 13 are orange in the latest West Virginia Department of Education map. Jackson remained red. Cabell, Mason, and Putnam are among those in orange. Mingo, Lincoln, Kanawha, Clay, and Nicholas were all gold in the update. All other counties were yellow or green.

WV Supreme Court designates new Chief Justice

The West Virginia Supreme Court is designating a new Chief Justice. Justice Evan Jenkins will take over when current Chief Justice Tim Armstead’s term ends on December 31st. The court also designated Justice John Hutchison to serve as Chief Justice in 2022. He’ll also serve as Acting Chief Justice in Chief Justice Jenkins absence.

Governor’s residency issue goes back to court

Fire seriously damaged a home in Poca. The blaze broke out on Jeanette Drive. The family made it out safely, but there is extensive damage to the house. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
