West Virginia’s mask mandate is going to court. A Hurricane restaurant filed the lawsuit claiming the governor doesn’t have the authority to issue a mandate, and can only enforce laws enacted by the legislature.

There are more than twenty active COVID-19 outbreaks linked to churches across the state. At least sixteen people tested positive for the virus after a ten-day revival at Longview Community Church in Jackson County.

There are over 11-hundred new cases of COVID-19 statewide, that’s the second highest daily total since the pandemic started, and eleven more people have died. The daily positive test rate is over five-percent. The number of red counties on the state alert map jumped from three to six.

Kanawha County health officials are urging you to avoid large Thanksgiving gatherings as COVID-19 numbers are beginning to surge. There are more than a thousand active cases of the virus in the county.

A Charleston man is accused of making terroristic threats against Governor Justice and his staff. Forty-nine-year-old Steven Long is accused of making a threatening social media post calling for public execution and lynch mob justice.

A South Charleston site is taking part in a COVID-19 vaccination trial. The study is looking for one-thousand candidates to receive the vaccine. Participants will be monitored over the next two years for side effects and benefits.

As COVID case numbers rise, hospitalizations have increased. Figures in the middle of this week showed 76 patients with coronavirus being treated in Kanawha County hospitals.
