COVID-19 hospitalizations hit record number

There are a record number of West Virginians in the hospital with COVID-19. Four-hundred people are hospitalized, and 116 are in ICU. There are almost 865 new cases of the virus, and thirteen more people have died.

WV unemployment rate down in October

West Virginia’s unemployment rate fell to six-point-four-percent in October. It marks six consecutive months of improving unemployment numbers. There are about 48-thousand people out of work.

Wallace sentenced to 40 years in prison

Twenty-two-year-old Courtney Wallace will spend forty-years in prison for a bizarre St. Albans murder in which the victim was stabbed and sexually assaulted. The judge said he found her actions incomprehensible, and handed down the maximum sentence.

Woman struck by train

A woman was hit and killed by a CSX train n Jefferson. She was walking on the tracks with her back to the train at Kanawha Terrace and MacCorkle Avenue.

Kentucky fugitive arrested in Milton

A Kentucky fugitive is under arrest in Milton. Officers found over three-hundred grams of meth and heroine at a home on Shaw Avenue. Thirty-two-year-old Kirsten Hayes tried to get away, but officers were able to stop her at Sheetz and take her into custody.

Health officials sign letter of support for SOAR

More than one-hundred health care officials signed a letter supporting a SOAR, a group that is under investigation for distributing needles in healthcare kits without proper authorization. The support letter says SOAR’s needle exchange is an important part of the solution and be backed by city officials.

Kanawha County Moves to Orange

Kanawha and Cabell counties shifted from gold to orange on the latest West Virginia county alert system map, while Putnam County remained in orange. Woman Dies in Kanawha County Train Accident

A woman died after she was struck by a train. Dispatchers said it happened at Kanawha Terrace and MaCorkle Avenue in Jefferson. They said the woman’s body was found about a quarter of a mile east of the underpass.
