Record number of COVID-19 hospitilizations in WV

West Virginia is seeing a record number of COVID-19 hospitalizations. More than three-hundred people are in the hospital with the virus, and over ninety are in intensive care. There are almost seven-hundred new cases of the virus, and two more people have died.

West Side home destroyed in fire

Fire destroyed a vacant home on Charleston’s west side. The blaze broke out at a house on Washington Street West. No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

State of Emergency in Lincoln County Schools

The West Virginia Board of Education is declaring a state of emergency for Lincoln County Schools. The school system is deficient in more than ten areas including, purchasing, payment, and bus maintenance. If progress isn’t made in six-months the board of education will take over operation of the schools.

School enrollment down by over 9,000 students

Enrollment in West Virginia public schools is down by over nine-thousand students this school year. School officials say the decrease in enrollment means an almost 43-million-dollar loss in school funding for the 2021-22 school year.

Two Dozen Cats are Found in Deplorable Conditions

Two people in Fayette County are facing animal cruelty charges after deputies said they found 25 cats living in a home in deplorable condition. Christopher Knotts and Nicolle Knotts are each charged with 25 counts of animal cruelty. Seatbelt Enforcement Campaign Starts Monday, November 16

West Virginia highway enforcers are taking part in this year’s Click It or Ticket effort that begins Monday.
