Charleston religious leaders are gathering this week to pray for healing and harmony as Election Day draws near. Different faith groups are meeting at several locations throughout the city to pray for the country through the end of the week.

Kanawha County wants Justice to extend utility aid program

The Kanawha County Commission is asking Governor Justice to extend eligibility requirements for the utility assistance program. Justice allocated 25-million-dollars in CARES Act funding to customers who have unpaid utility bills because of economic hardship caused by the pandemic.

COVID-19 testing blitz statewide

There are nearly twenty COVID-19 testing events will be held across the state today, including at event at Kingdom Life Church this afternoon in Kanawha County. COVID-19 numbers continue to grow, and the state is offering free testing for counties in red and orange zones, and expanding testing to counties in “gold.”

Man arrested for stealing ambulance

A man is under arrest for stealing an ambulance at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Polive followed Thirty-nine-year-old Jermon Webb for a few blocks before he jumped out of the ambulance and took off on foot, and was arrested a few minutes later. He’s charged with DUI, and additional charges are pending.

Suspect wanted in Charleston shooting

Police are looking for the gunman who shot and wounded a woman at a home on Scraggs Drive. She’s hospitalized in stable condition. The suspect took off through the back door and fled on foot.

Early voters turn out in record numbers

A record number of early voters turned out in Kanawha County. Forty-five-thousand votes have been cast so far, between in-person early voting and mail-in ballots. Nearly 400,000 total votes have been cast statewide.
