Capital High School is Closed For Two Weeks

Kanawha County school officials said Capital High School will be closed through Nov. 3 after three positive COVID-19 cases in the school community and related quarantine. A news release said all students should log into Schoology each day. Students can access school meals at bus stops. In-person learning students will return Nov. 4.

More than 200 new cases of COVID-19 in WV

West Virginia’s daily COVID-19 infection rate is almost three-point-four-percent. There are six counties in the “orange” on the state’s alert map, and Wyoming County is the only county in the red. There are over two-hundred new cases of the virus, and five more people have died.

WV meets air quality standards for the first time

United States Environmental Protection Agency says for the first time, since they started tracking, West Virginia meets all air quality standards. The EPA also awarded a 24-million-dollar clean water grant to the state. It provides loan interest loans for the construction of waste water treatment facilities, storm water and estuary projects.

CARES Act funding will help pay utility bills

Stolen copper wire cause phone outages in Hurricane

Frontier crews are working to restore phone and internet service after more than two-thousand pairs of copper wire were stolen in Hurricane. The phones have been out at City Hall for several days. The copper wire is worth about five-thousand-dollars. No arrests have been made.

Two victims recovering from stab wounds

Huntington police are investigating after two people were stabbed on Sixth Avenue. Both victims suffered non-life threatening injuries. A third person of interest was arrested on unrelated warrants.

Man arrested for shooting at parked cars

A Detroit man is under arrest for shooting at parked cars along Sixth Avenue in Huntington. A woman was sitting in one of the cars, but she wasn’t hurt. Thirty-seven-year-old Darryl Hill is charged with wanton endangerment and several counts of destruction of property.
