WV completes COVID-19 vaccine action plan

The state has completed its COVID-19 action as required by the Centers for Disease Control. The plan details how West Virginia will inoculate residents after a vaccine is approved. Health care workers and others on the front lines fighting the virus will get priority, and then the vaccine will be available to the general public.

Man wanted in connection to damaged vehicles

Police are looking for a man who damaged several vehicles in the parking lot of CAMC Memorial earlier this week. The incident happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning. Contact Charleston police if you have any information.

New trial denied for woman found guilty of murder

In September a jury found 32-year-old Cynthia Gatewood guilty of murder. She stabbed a stranger outside a Sissonville convenience store in 2018. Gatewood’s attorneys are asked the judge to set aside the verdict and give her a new trial. The judge denied the motion. Gatewood is facing life in prison. She’ll be sentenced in December.

COVID-19 spiking in rural WV

Rural areas of West Virginia are seeing a spike in COVID-19. Rural Wirt County is in the orange on the latest county alert map. Positive cases have doubled in a county of less than six-thousand people. The state has stepped up testing and saw a single-day record of almost five-hundred positive cases on Friday.

Kroger employees test COVID-19 positive

Several employees at a Kroger store in Elkview are testing positive for COVID-19. The employees at the Crossing Shopping Center did not work in customer facing roles, and didn’t have direct contact with customers. The store has undergone multiple deep cleanings, and the workers are self-isolating.

Cabell County issues stay at home advisory

Cabell-Huntington Health Department is issuing a stay-at-home advisory after a spike in COVID-19 cases. There are over four-hundred active cases in the county. PEIA wil not raise rates or cut benefits

The Public Employees Insurance Agency will not raise rates or cut benefits in next year’s plan. The West Virginia Education Association is raising questions about the future of the plan in anticipation of a seven-and-a-half-percent increase in 2023.
