Hurricane man shot when he answered the door

A Hurricane man is recovering after he was shot in the head when he answered his door. Dale Mauntel called 911 and said that someone knocked on the door of his Marina Drive home and shot him. Mauntel is in serious, but stable condition. No arrests have been made.

Pedestrian hit by vehicle in Teays Valley

A 74-year-old man is in the hospital with life threatening injuries. He was trying to stop traffic on Teays Valley Road to let a vehicle out of a parking lot when he was hit. The driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with police.

Hottest September on record

Last month was the hottest September on record. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says last month was the hottest since records began in 1880. In Charleston the average temperature was just over 78-degrees, which is about half-a-degree above average.

Republican incumbent Governor Jim Justice and Democratic challenger Ben Salango squared off in a socially distant debate.
