Coronavirus death toll reaches 100 in Kanahwa County

Two more people have died from COVID-19 in Kanawha County, bringing the county’s death toll to one-hundred. Statewide, there are over 270 new cases of the virus, and nearly 47-hundred active cases. The state’s daily positive test rate is over four-percent.

Man wanted on drug charges

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man wanted as part of a two state drug sweep that led to nearly a dozen arrests. Zachariah Wilson is accused of selling more than 100-thousand-dollars-a-year in heroin and opioids for more than a decade.

Man charged in cold case murder

A man in jail in California is being indicted for the murder of a Beckley school teacher. Sixty-four-year-old Earl Robbins is accused of shooting Cynthia Miller on the eve of her wedding in 1981. A cold case task force dug up new leads in the case.

Quick response has kept schools safe and open

State school officials say immediate response to COVID-19 outbreaks has limited the spread of the virus, and has been critical to “keeping schools safe and open.” More than twenty schools in the state are experiencing outbreaks, including Ruffner Elementary, and South Charleston Middle School.
