Last day for early voting

Today is the last day for early voting in West Virginia’s primary election. So far, about 24-thousand people have cast their ballots at an early voting location. You have until Election Day Tuesday to return your mail-in ballot. Polls are open until 7:30 tonight.

Possible arson fire in Cabin Creek

Firefighters responded to a house fire in the Cabin Creek. The home on Sharon Hollow Road was completely engulfed when they arrived. The fire is under investigation as possible arson. The house was believed to be abandoned. No one was hurt.

“I Can’t Breathe WV” rally postponed

A large rally that was scheduled for Sunday at the state Capitol is being postponed. Organizers of the “I Can’t Breathe WV” rally are pushing back the demonstration due to safety concerns. They received a credible threat that the protest might not remain peaceful.

Fairs and festivals return in July

Fairs and festivals can resume starting July 1st, and crowds of up to one-hundred will be allowed starting today. Guidelines will be in place for social distancing and wearing masks.

Roane County man dies from COVID-19

A 62-year-old Roane County man has died from COVID-19, bringing the state’s death toll to 79. There are ten new cases of the virus, for a total of over 21-hundred. The positive test rate is below two-percent.

Justice defends Obama comment

Governor Justice is defending himself for comments he made earlier this week, that former President Barack Obama wasn’t welcomed in West Virginia. Justice says he was referring to Obama’s energy policies, not his race.
