Shots fired in fight over dog

Two people are under arrest after shots were fired in a fight over a dog in Hurricane. A group of people got into an argument over the dog, and one person was shot in the leg. The shooter is under arrest, and the victim is expected to be okay.

Unemployment relief on the way

There is some relief on the way, after the largest number of unemployment claims in West Virginia. The federal government passed a relief bill the will add 600-dollars to regular unemployment benefits through the end of July. More than 40-thousand West Virginians have filed for unemployment since the governor shut down bars and restaurants.

Absentee ballot applications in the mail

All registered voters in West Virginia will be mailed an absentee ballot application. Once the application is approved, county clerks will mail an absentee ballot to voters with instruction on how to complete the ballot and mail it back for the May 12th primary election.

Kanawha Boulevard closed to encourge safe recreational activity

Part of Kanawha Boulevard will be closed this weekend to encourage safe recreational activity. The road will be closed from Brooks to Court streets. Morgantown nursing home falsely reports patient’s death

Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown says none of its patients have died from coronavirus. Sundale falsely reported the death of a 76-year-old man on Friday. The man is still alive at the hospital. More than twenty patients and eight staff members are positive for COVID-19.

20 new cases of COVID-19

There are twenty new cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia, bringing the total to 96 statewide. The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department is reporting nineteen positive cases, that’s four more than yesterday.

Free fishing in WV

Fishing is free in West Virginia. Governor Justice is waiving the fishing license requirement for state residents through April 24th. DNR may still require a driver’s license or state ID. Anglers must practice safe social distancing.

Fourth judicial employee tests positve for COVID-19

A fourth employee at the Kanawha County Judicial Annex tested positive for the virus. Three of the four people worked on the same floor. The building is closed, and the Supreme Court is waiving some to allow the county to do more proceeding remotely.
