Huntington Mall Closes Temporarily

The Huntington Mall announced it will shut down temporarily to slow the spread of the coronavirus, but essential businesses will remain open. Best Buy and National Tire & Battery will remain open because they are considered essential. Some restaurants are open too for pickup or delivery. All mall activities through April 24 have been cancelled.

Nicholas County Adds More Patrols

The Nicholas County Sheriff’s Office said it is ramping up its police presence due to school being out and court proceedings being canceled. MedExpress Sites Begin COVID-19 Testing

MedExpress Urgent Care is providing COVID-19 testing for those who meet CDC criteria. If you meet the screening criterian you can call designated MedExpress locations in or around Charleston and they’ll direct you to the next steps. MedExpress centers are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Kanawha County closing playgrounds

Kanawha County Parks and Recreation Commission is closing playground structures and skate parks. Coonskin Park in Charleston, Meadowood Park in Tornado and Pioneer Park in East Bank are closed.

All non-essential businesses closing

Starting Tuesday night at eight, all non-essential businesses will be closed. Grocery stores, gas stations, and pharmacies will be open. Drive through and takeout will still be available at restaurants. You can go outside for a walk, but you should practice social distancing and stay six-feet from your neighbor.
