Two more COVID-19 deaths in WV

Two more people have died from COVID-19 in West Virginia, raising the death toll to 310. There are one-hundred-eighty new cases of the virus, and more than 35-hundred active cases.

Four WV counties in the “red”

Four West Virginia counties remain in the red. Kanawha, Putnam, Fayette and Mingo counties are suspending in-person instruction and extracurricular activities. Monongalia County moved into the orange, joining Boone County. Three counties are in the new gold category.

Body found in Twelve Pole Creek

The state Medical Examiner’s Office is trying to identify a man’s body that was found in Twelve Pole Creek, near Camden Park. West Virginia State Police are investigating.

Woman killed on scooter

Police are investigating a crash that killed a woman on a motorized scooter. She was hit by a car at the intersection of Route 21 and Washington Street West.

Boat fire on Kanawha River

A boat fully engulfed in flames floated down the Kanawha River. The owner was renovating the boat and put it in the water for the first time over the weekend. Two people were onboard, but got off safely. Fire crews had to submerge the boat to put out the flames.

Boat Catches Fire on the Kanawha River

Metro 911 dispatchers said an unoccupied boat engulfed in flames was floating down the Kanawha River on Saturday. There were no known injuries. First responders had to submerge the boat to fully put the fire out. They’re investigating how the fire started.

Kanawha County Remains Red on Newest Map

Four counties remained red Saturday in the West Virginia Department of Education’s weekly school re-entry map. Kanawha, Putnam, Fayette and Mingo counties moved to red midweek and remained there in the state’s 5 p.m. update, meaning in-person instruction will be suspended along with extra-curricular activities.
