The state School Building Authority approved seven-million-dollars in funding for a dozen school construction and maintenance projects. Several security and HVAC projects were approved. The largest is a one-million-dollar addition and renovation project at Ruthlawn Elementary School.
A few hundred parents, coaches, and teachers gathered outside the state Capitol, chanting “let the play,” and “open schools.” Protestors say the color-coded metrics aren’t fair and are inaccurate, and want to get rid of the map entirely.
Governor Justice is considering more changes to his color-coded COVID-19 map. Justice is proposing to add the color gold. The designation would be between yellow and orange, and would allow in-person classes and after school activities.
The Lens Creek Sewer Project has received two-million-dollars from the Department of Agriculture. The project will add eight miles of sewer line, and serve over two-hundred households. Construction will begin in the spring.
Police are investigating after shots were fired in Cedar Grove. Forty-five-year-old Eric Spelock fired a warning shot at a man who was trying to steal his ATV. He hit the suspect in the leg. He’s in serious condition.
Police are looking for the gunman who shot two people on Ohio Avenue. A 47-year-old man was hit the leg by a stray bullet, and is in stable condition. A 25-year-old man was shot in the head and is in critical condition. Investigators are looking for a white SUV.
Bible Center School is getting some criticism for reopening for in-person classes. Governor Justice called it a “pitiful shame,” and health officials are calling for the school to close it’s doors. The school is defending itself and says it is taking extraordinary steps to mitigate any health risks.
